
ARM WRESTLING
Arm Wrestling is a sport, which is commonly seen as a test of strength where two people try to pin each other’s arm sideways. However, contrary to popular belief, it takes much more than that. It is a sport where your whole body is used in a battle to gain leverage against the other person.
There are certain myths concerning arm wrestling which we have heard as children such as: “you can’t bend your wrists”, “you can’t use your body weight”, and “you can’t hold anything”. The truth, however, is exactly contrary to these myths.
The true rules of arm wrestling are: -
1. You can’t lift your elbows.
2. There is a peg on each side of the table which needs to be held by your free arm constantly throughout the match.
If any of these rules are broken, it is considered to be a foul on the part of that person.
3. You are allowed to bend your wrists and it is a dominant part of the technique.
4. Using your body-weight is also an integral part of your technique and due to this, there are weight-categories assigned to the competitors who are matched against other competitors in the same weight category.
